The nick-name “GITCH” derives from “goat-bitch”, which in turn derives from “Eli-Goat” which was sourced from one dumb-ass teacher we had in grade school, who mistakenly referred to Eliot as “Elli-gut”. Not sure why she imposed an arbitrary “g” in there, but interestingly, 30 years later, most of Eliot’s close friends still call him “Gitch”. This enduring nick-name is no doubt the extent of that teacher’s contribution to society…

Gitch

Decided to pull out a classic today, as I don’t really have anything new to post. This was sometime in the summer of 1995 – my friend Eliot (I can’t remember the origin of the ‘Gitch’ nickname) could give himself a super-afro by combing out his hair. He didn’t actually walk around like this, but yes, it’s his real hair.

We felt he really looked like Tony Roberts from early Woody Allen films, though nowadays I suppose looking like this he could pass for Will Ferrel in the new film Semi-Pro. Eliot’s big hair can also be seen put to use in a group portrait taken by my friend Dominic.
